Description
A place for prayer and worship in the Navajo culture, the bridge signifies good fortune and is considered a sacred place for tribal members. Rainbow Bridge wasn't discovered by outsiders until 1909 by two parties who joined together in search of the towering sandstone formation. President Howard Taft declared it a national monument in 1910. Accessibility to the bridge is limited to hiking several in the canyon by permit only or a two-hour boat ride from Lake Powell.
Along your tour you'll soar over the remote corners of beautiful Lake Powell and discover its colorful towering rock formations rising out of the water. The lake was created by the damming of the Colorado River at what is now Glen Canyon Dam. At the end of your tour you'll return to Page for a flight back to the stunning South Rim.
